1. The Kardashian-Wests vs. The Carters
Things had been tense between the two after Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce passed on attending Kanye West’s and Kim Kardashian’s wedding. Instead of attending, Beyonce posted a photo on Instagram of her doing literally nothing at all, just chilling in her backyard.
In October 2016, Kayne West complained at a concert that Jay-Z didn’t call after Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris and that their kids never got to play with Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy. The next month, at another concert, he continued the tirade, ranting that Jay-Z still hadn’t called him. On a Rap Radar podcast in August 2017, Kanye said there are still hard feelings between the two. “What really hurt me was you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it,” Jay-Z explained. “You brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”
Meanwhile, Beyonce has never seemed particularly warm to Kim Kardashian, making a point of sitting far away from her when they’re together. At Serena Williams wedding in November 2017, the two were seen standing near each other but carefully avoiding any contact at all.
2. Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian
Back in the early 00’s, Kim Kardashian was Paris’ assistant. Kim would occasionally appear on Paris’ tv show, The Simple Life, acting embarrassingly obsequious in attending Paris’ every need. In photos from the time, you can still see the look of adoration on Kim’s face as she gazes at Paris.
By 2007, Kim didn’t need Paris anymore since The Simple Life had been cancelled and a few months later, Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered. Paris wasn’t very gracious as Kim’s star rose, calling her some crude names but by then, Kardashian didn’t care. Now, a decade later, there’s no feud but the two aren’t even pals anymore.
3. Chloe Grace Moretz and Kim Kardashian
Chloe Grace Moretz slammed Kim Kardashian after she attempted to “break the internet” with her nude pics. She tweeted, “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than our bodies.” Kim fired back, “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to Twitter since no one knows who she is. Your nylon cover is cute boo.”
Chloe has stuck by her guns, however, and criticized the nude pic for being voyeuristic and not body-positive. The two haven’t made up.
4. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
Rumor has it that the two superstars were feuding because Katy Perry stole backup dancers from Katy Perry while on tour. It became public when Taylor Swift told Rolling Stone that the song “Bad Blood” on her album 1989 was about another female artist who was “just straight-up enemies” with her. When Katy Perry tweeted “Watch out for the Regina George is sheep’s clothing,” fans put two and two together and realized the show-down was between the two superstars. Perry later said, “If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it.”
5. Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon
In March 2016, the two actress became locked in a heated Twitter feud when Sarandon questioned whether she would vote for Hillary Clinton against Donald Trump. Sarandon was a vocal Bernie Sanders supporter.
Debra Messing took exception to the very notion of voting for Trump and criticized Sarandon. “Susan Sarandon muses tht Trump prezcywud be better 4 the country thn Hillary. Wonder if she’d say that if she were poor, gay, Muslim or immgrnt,” she Tweeted.
Sarandon tried to explain that she would never vote for Trump or to explain her lack of faith in Clinton, but Messing continued to berate Sarandon for not disavowing Trump.
The two continued sparring on Twitter for days, and now refuse to discuss each other in interviews.
6. Chelsea Handler and Angelina Jolie
Chelsea has been loud and persistent with her beef with Angelina Jolie. She called the A-list actress a “fucking lunatic” on her Netflix show and said she had driven her then-husband Brad Pitt to drinking and smoking pot as an escape. Chelsea is besties with Pitt’s first wife, Jennifer Aniston, who Pitt left for Angelina Jolie when they met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005. Angelina Jolie has never publicly answered Chels.
7. Gwyneth Paltrow and Martha Stewart
The queen of lifestyle products, Martha Stewart, went after Gwyneth after the actress started her website, Goop. In 2013, Bloomberg TV asked Martha what she thought the new website. Stewart’s response was a bit passive-aggressive. “I haven’t eaten at Gwyneth’s house, and I’ve never seen how she lives,” she told Bloomberg. “But if she is authentic, all the better. I mean, I certainly hope she is. She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business…. Gwyneth, for example, has a book on the bestseller list. She must be doing something right. She’s a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter. Fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle.”
But a month later, she amped up the heat on Paltrow when she said, “[Paltrow] just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
When Gwyneth responded, she made a joke of the whole thing, telling E! News, “No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated,” Paltrow joked, according to E! News. “I’ll try to recover.” She added, “If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I really am.”
Paltrow then won the whole beef by hiring Martha Stewart’s former CEO.
8. Rihanna and Ciara
Ciara started this row by saying on Fashion Police that she ran into Rihanna at a party but Rihanna ignored her. “It wasn’t the most pleasant run-in,” Ciara said.
Rihanna hit back on Twitter. “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u?”
Ciara replied: ‘Trust me Rihanna you don’t want to see me on or off the stage.’
Rihanna laughed: ‘Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.’
‘Pure comedy,’ responded Ciara.
Bizarrely, the make-up was just as over the top. Rihanna said, “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y I retaliated this way! So sorry!”
Ciara responded: “Rhi, u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows and everything. You threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let’s chat in person.”
9. Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks
In December 2014, Azealia Banks called out Iggy Azalea for not speaking out about Eric Garner and Ferguson on social media. Iggy Azalea responded by calling Banks a “bigot” and a “miserable angry human being.” Azealia Banks then amped up the fire by saying she hoped Iggy Azalea dies.
The post-script? They duo are now working together on Iggy Azalea’s new album.
10. Madonna and Elton John
Elton John has been slagging the Queen of Pop for over a decade. In 2004, at the Q Awards, he said, “Madonna, best live act? F___ off. Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. That’s me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.”
Prior to her Super Bowl performance, Elton John offered her some advice on Good Morning America: “Make sure you lip-sync good.” And during her last tour, he said, “Her tour is a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c___. She looks like a fairground stripper.”
Madonna has said nothing much about these slurs.
