7 Celebrities Who Transformed Themselves By Losing a Lot of Weight


We know that celebrities are humans just like us. Many of our favorite celebs have even struggled with their weight, just like everybody else.

However, there have been a few Hollywood stars that have battled their excess bulge to end up with totaljaw-dropping transformations.

Between surgeries, dieting, exercise and other lifestyle changes, here are 7 celebrity weight loss transformations that made our list:

1. Star Jones Reynolds

Star Jones Reynolds is well known as the co-host of the The View, which she appeared from 1997-2006. She was also a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice in 2011.

Reynolds had undergone gastric bypass surgery in 2003 for weight loss and she was initially hesitant to tell her fans about the operationbecause she feared failing and gaining all of the weight back.

Yet, she managed to lose approximately 160 pounds in three years. As with Reynolds, gastric bypass surgery is a viable option for people who are extremely obese.

2. Randy Jackson

Randy Jackson, the bassist, producer, television personality, and music legend is, of course, best known for his appearance as judge on American Idol. Jackson weighed over 300 pounds in 2003 before he underwent gastric bypass surgery, which he opted as a means to help keep his diabetes under control.

He lost 100 pounds and has been able to keep it off by cutting back on fat, sugar, and other processed foods. He also spends more time walking, playing tennis, and engaging in other forms of exercise.

3.Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne, the British singer and actress, and also the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has certainly had her share of emotional eating struggles before finally dropping all the excess baggage.

Osbourne started exercising with dance workouts and weight training, and since 2009, she has lost more than 70 pounds— transforming her weight loss into a healthy lifestyle.

4. Zach Galifianakis

This actor, writer and comedian, Zach Galifianakis, is one of Hollywood’s beloved chubby and bearded dudes. He started his career as a comedian on Comedy Central, but then came to prominence after landing his role in the hit film, The Hangover.

Galifianakis stunned his fans in 2014 when he appeared on the red carpet looking all slim and trim. He lost over 60 pounds after he quit drinking and started exercising more. He continues to maintain his healthy lifestyle.

5. Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson is the actress and singer who rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on American Idol. She was sadly struck by tragedy in 2008 when her mother, brother, and nephew were killed in a shooting. Hudson later stepped out into the spotlight with a new outlook on life.

She dropped 80 pounds over the next four years and became the spokesperson for Weight Watchers in 2010.

Since she hates to exercise, she focuses more on calorie counting and portion control.

6.Chaz Bono

Chaz Bono is the writer, musician, and actor born to the popular entertainers Sonny and Cher. Between 2008 and 2010, Bono underwent a female-to-male transgender transition.

However, it wasn’t until after his appearance on Dancing with the Stars, that he dropped 85 pounds to reveal a whole new body. His weight loss weaponry included: a diet mostly of meat, fruit, nuts, and vegetables. He also gave up stress and junk food altogether.

7. Valerie Bertinelli

This former cover girl and popular actress, is now well known for her role as judge on the Kids Baking Championship on Food Network.
However, Bertinelli once had a weight struggle of her own, topping out at 172 pounds. She lost the weight (50 pounds) and became a spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

She now maintains her weight around 128 pounds by monitoring her food portions and staying physically active. In fact, she even qualified and ran in the 2010 Boston Marathon.
